Russell David Brill

Russell David Brill
Russell David Brill

Angels Info

Name: Russell David Brill
Age:  27
Location: Cleveland, Ohio

DOD: December 28, 2016

OBITUARY:
age 27, of Cleveland, formerly of Bay Village, Ohio, died suddenly on December 28, a result of a drug overdose after years of sobriety. He leaves behind a much loved newlywed wife, Laura Benko, his mother, Amy Fritz (fiance John Burnett), his father, David Brill (Karen) and best brothers, Harrison and Jackson. He was the grandson of Russell and Carol Fritz and William Keene. Nephew to several aunts and uncles, cousin to many. A graduate of Bay High ’07, he excelled in marching band and jazz band, as well as the rock group Electric Funk Banana. He recently graduated from Cleveland State with a BA in English, and was in the process of applying for PhD programs to teach college English. An AA sponsor, Russell touched many lives with his enthusiastic approach to sobriety and although he ultimately succumbed to this horrible disease, we are comforted knowing that he helped so many others. If he wasn’t helping someone with their sobriety, he was feeding the poor, helping a friend or doing anything anyone asked of him. A highlight for him was traveling to Appalachia every June to help make homes “warmer, safer, drier.” Russell loved music: writing, playing and listening. He picked up the saxophone as a freshman and made the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony that same year. He composed and recorded song after song of beautiful music. He was a vociferous reader and writer, filling journals with poems and stories. He loved cooking and baking and never turned down an opportunity to socialize. Russell was given so many gifts; intelligence, talent, wit, but the greatest was his innate kindness and generous heart. He was so unbelievably good at so many things – but addiction finally won. It truly was the only thing he couldn’t conquer. His heart was so true, so big and full of life. We wish that we could have him back. He will be very missed. Memorial services will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at CATAVOLOS BERRY FUNERAL HOME, 23040 CENTER RIDGE RD., WESTLAKE, OH., where the family will receive friends on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2017 FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 P.M. catavolos-berry-funeral-home.com

Conor Alderman

Angels Info

Name: Conor Alderman
Age:  24
Location: Stamford, Connecticut

DOD: November 9, 2017

OBITUARY:

Conor D. Alderman
Our beautiful son and brother died on Thursday, November 9 of a drug overdose. He was taken from our lives far to soon. Outwardly Conor was a quick witted, fun loving human being, but on the inside he was a sensitive soul who could never be completely honest about his struggles. We loved Conor with all our hearts, but we know we could not shield him from this disease. The worry that we felt watching Conor struggle has now been replaced by a deep sense of loss knowing we will not be able to see his smiling face and to tell him once more that we love him. Conor tried his best to take the right steps to change his life, but ultimately he lost his battle and is now another heartbreaking reminder of the heroin epidemic in this country. It is our family’s hope that the cruel disease of addiction will trend toward a broader degree of acceptance and destigmatization.
Conor is survived by his parents Douglas and Susan Alderman, his sister Morgan, and his younger brother Hunter. He is also survived by his grandparents Arthur and Henrietta Adams, uncles Art Adams and his wife Dawn, William Adams and his wife Kathleen, Lawrence Alderman and his wife Dorothy, aunts, Helen Collen and her husband George, Elsie Kaptiena and her husband Henry, Jackie Mihalek and her husband Mark, Cathy Bystrowski and her husband Andy, and Peggy Adams. He is also survived by many cousins and his beloved dog Diesel.
A Christian Mass will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maurice’s Church located at 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford, CT. All services will be held at the church and no calling hours will be held.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made in Conor’s name to The Impact Society, 1209 Liberty Road, Suite 102, Eldersburg, MD 21782, www.theimpactsociety.org.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home, Stamford (203)359-9999. To send online condolences to the Alderman family, please visit www.gallagherfuneralhome.com

Jess Horwath

Jess Horwath
Jess Horwath

Angels Info

Name: Jess Horwath
Age:  27
Location: Erie, Pennsylvania

DOD: April 25, 2017

OBITUARY:

Jessica “Jess” L. Horwath, 27, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at her home. She was born February 4, 1990 in Erie, a daughter of Dennis J. Horwath and Elena A. Marasco both of Erie

Three things Jess was totally into: modeling (see above picture), acting in horror movies (did a scene with more to come), and bartending at Bobby’s Place (her granpa’s saloon.) Jess was the beacon for the bar. Her big welcoming smile brought you in and back again. Jess enjoyed booking shows and getting to know all the fine musicians and their music. She made her mark in the local music scene.

As a child Jess became quite the collector of original pieces: Smurfs, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bear, and My Little Pony. She may have been the youngest on E-Bay selling her doubles at the age of ten.

In a grade school reflections contest her entry brought her first place in the state of Pennsylvania. Her poem “Wouldn’t it be Great” included the line… “If everyone had food and was in a good mood.”

Jess loved her holidays, especially Halloween, and family gatherings where she would always put on a show.

Jess loved going to Granpa’s camp and felt really cool when her brother DJ and his friends included she and her friends to hang out with them.

In her daily life Jess practiced kindness, non judgment, and encouraged people to believe in themselves. We will miss our Jessica as will the many others whose hearts she touched. We envision her smiling surrounded by the many kitties, family, and friends who left before her. Jess is no longer struggling. She has earned her peace. Sadly another beautiful loving person lost to heroin addiction.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Alex and Helen Horwath and granpa, Robert E. Marasco.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her brother, DJ Horwath; “Lil Nen” Nana Helen Marasco; Aunt Angela Marasco Ocasio; three uncles, Robert and David Marasco and Alex Horwath (Sandra); and many others.

Services were private. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, handled arrangements.
