Age:  22
Location: Detroit, Michigan

DOD: August 142017

OBITUARY:

The mother of a Michigan 22-year-old dead after a heroin overdose shared a photo of her daughter’s heartbreaking final moments in a bid to help others battling addiction.

Cheryl Towery said she hoped the image of her clinging to her daughter, Elaina, while she lay in a coma at Mount Sinai-Grace Hospital would serve as a wake-up call for those struggling with their drug use.

“She was my only daughter, my best friend,” Cheryl Towery told Fox 2 Detroit. “She was supposed to start her new job today.”

Elaina Towery was taken off life support and died Monday, days after Burger King employees found her unconscious in the restroom, according to the news station. Officials believe her heroin was laced with fentanyl, prompting her liver and kidneys to fail and her muscles to deteriorate.

A scan Monday revealed Elaina had no brain activity.

Her 49-year-old mother explained Elaina Towery had struggled with addiction for nearly seven years and that she’d overdosed five times before. The 22-year-old, who gave up her 5-year-old son due to her struggles with drug use, has also been to several treatment centers in recent years, Fox reported.

“I wasn’t prepared for what I saw in the emergency room,” Cheryl said. “Because that’s the worst I’ve ever seen her.”

She believes her daughter’s addiction was sparked in 2010, when she used prescription drugs to cope with her abusive boyfriend, who was eventually convicted of domestic violence and several other crimes. She said she would often find her daughter “beat up, being pimped out,” and “being kept in a hotel room on heroin.”

Cheryl told the new station saying good bye to her daughter inspired a new life’s mission, and she issued a warning to those illegally trading dangerous substances.

“I’m going to fight for the rest of my life to make sure the people down here on the street selling this to people,” she told the news station, “they need to be locked up.”

The family wants to break the silence of addiction. To anyone reading this obituary, this demon is still out on the streets waiting to kill the next innocent suffering person thinking about using or having reservations. If we can save one or several lives to the sick and suffering and spare their families, we pray that breaking the silence of addiction works.

Soumaya and Robert have lost their treasured daughter; Kenza means “treasure.” Kenza dedicated her life to loving and caring for all those she encountered, without judgment, just compassion. Kenza was never happier than when she was Being Of Service to those in need and those she loved. There is not a homeless person in Los Angeles that was not touched by Kenza. She could not pass by anyone in need without stopping to offer anything and everything she could. That compassion extended to animals, especially to the countless dogs she encountered and rescued. Her last rescue was to a non-kill shelter named Wags and Walks. There contact information is above. Kenza was blessed with great artistic abilities, which were expressed in her photography and writing. She was filled with heart and love… she loved her parents beyond words, and they loved her back even more. The is no deeper love than Kenza, Soumaya and Robert shared for each other.

Arrangements under the direction of Groman Eden Mortuary, Mission Hills, CA.

Angie Moore

Angie Moore

Angels Info

Name: Angie Moore
Age:  34
Location: Union City, Indiana

DOD: April 04, 2017

OBITUARY:
Police said a Winchester man drove for as long as 15 hours with the body of a female overdose victim in the back seat of his car.

Ryan K. Fisher, 37, of the 800 block of Beeson Drive, has been preliminarily charged with reckless homicide and neglect of a dependent in the woman’s death, which apparently took place on the night of Tuesday, April 4.

Fisher told authorities he was with Angela Kay Moore, 34, of Union City, when she overdosed while they were at a pond near Randolph County roads 900-N and 700-E about 10 p.m. that evening.

He claimed he tried to revive her by performing CPR for as long as three hours.

Fisher said “he didn’t know what to do, so he drove around all night and through the day on Wednesday, April 5, with Moore in the back seat of his vehicle,” Chad Puterbaugh, a Randolph County sheriff’s detective, wrote in a report.

The Winchester man brought the body to Jay County Hospital in Portland about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Fisher at first told an Indiana State Police investigator he had picked Moore up after finding her walking along U.S. 27, and invited her to join him on a fishing outing.

On the way to the pond, he claimed, he and Moore argued about her desire to be driven to Ohio.

He said he parked the car and took a walk “to calm down,” and returned to find Moore dead in the back seat of his car

During a later interview with Puterbaugh, Fisher acknowledged the story he told the state trooper was false.

Randolph County Prosecutor David Daly’s office on Monday was granted 72 additional hours to file formal charges in the case.

Fisher – convicted of a burglary-related charge in 2015 – was being held without bond at the Randolph County jail.

The Winchester man was also convicted of two drunken driving charges in 2015.

Overdose victim Moore had faced several drug-related charges in Randolph County courts in recent years.

Those with adults when they became incapacitated can, depending on their response, be charged with neglect of a dependent.
