OBITUARY:
Our bright and shining star, Marianne Elizabeth Morris passed on February 15, 2018, breaking the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Marianne was born at Sibley Memorial Hospital on June 14, 1967 and grew up in Bethesda, MD. She attended Bradley Elementary School, and North Bethesda Junior High School, graduating from Walt Whitman High School in 1985. After briefly enrolling at Montgomery County Community College, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, earning both Bachelors and Juris Doctor degrees. Residing in Milwaukee, Marianne became a shareholder in the law firm now known as Crivello Carlson. Returning to the Washington, DC area, she worked briefly at the Department of Housing and Urban Development before relocating to Hagerstown where she worked for the firm of Ira Cooke Law.
She is survived by her husband, Donald O’Dell; her beloved daughter, Emily Elizabeth Belke; her loving mother, Elizabeth Morris; siblings, Thomas Morris and Catherine Morris; a niece, Elizabeth MacGregor; her godmother, Elisabeth Barrett and innumerable friends. A marriage to Paul Belke ended in divorce.
In her last decade, Marianne struggled with an opioid addiction, which had devastating effects on her life and the lives of those who loved and supported her. Acknowledgement of Marianne’s addiction is important for her family to share in the hopes that this conversation may help save the lives of others living with this disease.
