In the early morning of January 26, 2018, Lawrence Wilbur Russell IV, known to all as Rusty, gained his angel wings. He died from his addiction to heroin. Rusty’s struggle with his addiction was life long and he fought tirelessly until the end. Rusty’s legacy will be his never-ending love for others, his life, his understanding ear, his caring heart, and his sense of humor. He was able to die a happy man.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ashley Green Russell; his grandparents, John and Leona O’Connor; Lawrence and Claire Russell; Vernon Hopkins; his step father, Ronnie Bynaker; and brother, Bobby Bynaker. He is survived by his grandmothers: Elise Russell and Sally Hopkins; his parents, Lynn and Larry Russell and Amy Hopkins; his siblings: Amanda and Matt Gosnell; Andrew and Ashley Russell; David Bynaker; Sara Hoxter; and Brenda Oppong. He left behind his fiancÃ© and love of his life, Jessica Courtney, and their four children: Calista, Cameron, Leona, and Julie. He also leaves behind his two nephews: Jonathan and Grayson; and his best friend, Jennifer Davis.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, February 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., in Chester, MD, where a memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2 at 11 a.m.
