Joan M. “Joanie” Bergdahl,35, of West Suffield, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2018, after losing her longtime battle with addiction. Born in Hartford, the daughter of Patricia Bergdahl, she grew up in Simsbury and Granby, graduating from St Mary’s in 1997 and Granby HS in 2001. Joanie worked for several years at Granby Pizza, but eventually got licensed as a CNA and was most recently employed at Governor’s House in Westfield MA. Her pastimes included gardening, cooking, reading Stephen King’s books, and watching the New England Patriots. Besides her mother Patricia, of West Granby, Joanie leaves her two beautiful children, Kylie and Beaux, and her stepfather David Tyrrell. Her family members also include her Maternal Aunt Joan Carvon Bergdahl of Salisbury CT, her Maternal Aunt Gloria Coots Baldwin and the family caretaker Leah Charania of Boca Raton FL, and the extended Tyrrell Family. Numerous friends and coworkers are saddened by her passing. Joanie was predeceased by her longtime partner, Christopher Grabarek. The family wishes to thank Ofc Thomas Kieselback, Sgt Geoff Miner, and Dispatcher Nicholas Fasano, from Suffield Police Department, for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 24th from 4PM to 7PM at the Hayes Huling and Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St Granby. Private burial will take place at Granby Cemetery.
