Ginger Carmel Knepper

Our beloved Ginger Carmel Knepper took her last breath on Earth and her first breath in Heaven on March 5, 2018. She was 39 years old. Because Ginger wanted to give back and help others we share her story.

Ginger was born in Van Nuys California on April 24, 1978.

She worked at local Ventura restaurants, but her favorite job was at Green Thumb. She really loved her coworkers and was so proud that she could identify any flower and plant on her walks. She also enjoyed making crafts. She will always be remembered for her welcoming smile and huge heart for everyone.

Unfortunately, she will also be remembered as a statistic. Along her journey she also made a bad decision to experiment with prescription opioids. For many years she battled her demons and they never let her go. Ginger’s family truly loved her and also struggled with her addiction that she fiercely fought for years. All Ginger wanted was to lead a normal life, free from the pains of addiction, with no help from the over prescribing doctors who placed personal financial gain over the health and wellbeing of their patients. If a life can be saved because of her loss, her goal in helping others will carry on.

If you have a loved one or friend with an addiction, be assured that there are resources that can help. Please don’t be afraid of risking a friendship by keeping silent.

Ginger is survived by her parents Philip and Yvonne Knepper of Ventura; brother, Erik Knepper of Ventura; sister and brother-in-law, April and Dan Stroncak of Texas; niece, Sierra Nickler; nephews, Ben and Lincoln Stroncak; her beloved dogs, Pumpkin and China, as well as her friends at Villa Calleguas.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, 1:00 PM, at The River Community Church, 889 East Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 93001
