Brandon Paul VanWinkle. He was a God fearing man who loved his 2 baby girls, ages 2 & 4 at time of his passing. He was the best father. Brandon met his souldmate, Kristen, 7 years prior to death & their love was unmatched. They had 2 daughters together. He loved working in the Retial Loss Prevention field. Compassionate about his job & making sure all his coworkers and fellow employees were always safe. Brandon was not a junkie now was he into “drugs”. He got caught up in the pill mill doctors when he was desperate & suffering from pseudo gout flare ups. He had what I refer to as “Dr induced opiate addiction” & was one of those types who didn’t believe he had a problem because (dirty) doctors were prescribing his drugs. He was prescribed a very deadly concoction on his very 1st visit. Massive amounts of Roxy’s, Vicodin and Xanax bars, all at once. I watched this man tarnish from a great outstanding citizen to a lost and shell of a man. He refused to get help for fear of losing his children. He his a terrible secret from those who cared about him. His life was robbed of him…way too short. He died of an accidental overdose after not knowing the potency of a fentanyl patch. He had one saved for me, his wife…and the 1st time he didn’t wait to take it with me, saved my life but say took his. Its hard to not blame myself after almost 9 years – had he waiting, our babies would’ve been in our home alone with 2 passed parents in the bed for god knows how long. He loved spending time with his babies & his partner. Doing anything fun. Cooking, he loved making his Kansas City BBQ, especially on Chiefs game days. He enjoyed church & witnessing to people through his many christian tattoos, as he was very shy. Accidents happen. And Doctor induced addictions are very real.
